ImgOptimize is an application that is meant for anyone who has a website and does not want to host large images on it. The thing is that speed is very important for a successful website – it has to load fast because if it doesn’t, the visitor may very well leave. It is thus important to stay away from large images that take forever to load. ImgOptimize helps you by shrinking images down without negatively impacting their quality. So by using the application you end up with an image that weighs less and looks just as good as the original.

To run ImgOptimize on your machine, you need it to be powered by Microsoft Windows operating system (anything from Windows XP up to Windows 8) and you need to have .NET Framework 4.0 or newer on it. To get the application up and running, you will have to download an archive, extract and run the executable inside, then click through the setup wizard – so, it is a standard installation process that doesn’t pose any problems.

The images selected for optimization are presented in the main pane of the application’s interface. At the top there’s a ribbon that allows you to switch from Optimization to the Options and Help sections. Overall, the interface is so simple, so easy to figure out that even a novice will immediately feel at home. Not having to go through a steep learning curve is always a very nice thing.

The first step in accessing the application’s functionality is to select the image file, the folder that holds images, or a website that hosts images. Once you load images into ImgOptimize, the application lists them on its interface and provides info on each image’s original size, optimized size, and size improvement. With a simple mouse click you can then optimize all the images you loaded into the application. Please note that ImgOptimize is only free to try – this means that the trial tells you how much it can optimize an image, but it doesn’t apply the optimization.

Quickly optimize images by loading them into ImgOptimize and letting the application shrink them down. Mind you, it does this without sacrificing quality in the process.

Pros

You can very easily and quickly install the application on a Windows PC. There is nothing complicated about the interface. You can select image files, image folders, and websites. The application lets you see the difference between the original and the optimized image. ImgOptimize can shrink images without sacrificing quality.

Cons

The trial only lets you see how much you can optimize files, it does not optimize them.
